Venise Cély’s pregnancy suddenly turned into a life-threatening emergency.
There was no time to reach a hospital, and the local clinic in Bayonnais was not equipped for childbirth. There was no obstetrician and no midwife available. Many feared that both Venise and her baby would be lost.
But the doctor at the clinic acted quickly and courageously.
Against the odds, the doctor successfully delivered a healthy baby girl and saved Venise’s life.
That baby girl—Jose Marigladine Marcellus—is now in third grade and part of the Bayonnais school community. She is also a sponsored student, supported by partners who continue to walk alongside families in the community.
What began as a moment of crisis became a story of life, hope, and the power of accessible care.
